The sleeves of the Stenhaven cardigan are knitted in the same pattern as the rest, but fortunately it’s a bit quicker. I can’t wait to put all stitches on one needle and to knit the raglan line!

Dies ist das Bündchen des ersten Ärmels für die Stenhaven-Jacke von Isager. Gestrickt wurde wieder in Doppelstricktechnik, diesmal allerdings unter Verwendung der Hauptfarbe,

This is the cuff of the first sleeve of the Stenhaven cardigan by Isager. It’s knitted again in double knitting technique, but this time the main colour was used.

Der untere Teil der Jacke Stenhaven von Marianne Isager ist geschafft. Ich entschuldige mich für die blöde Art der Präsentation, aber es ging nicht anders, da ich das Teil entgegen der Anleitung in einem Stück stricke. Nun kommen die Ärmel dran.

The lower part of the body of Stenhaven cardigan by Marianne Isager is done. I’m sorry for the presentation, but this is the only way since I knitted it in one piece (not according to the instructions which ask for a lot of sewing). Now I’ll begin with the sleeves.

Zum Gestrick von Rogue habe ich hier schon alles gesagt, was ich zu sagen hatte, nur das Foto fehlte noch. Nun ist er gewaschen und getrocknet. Das Garn hat durch die Wäsche sehr gewonnen, es ist schön weich geworden, und der Pullover fällt auch sehr schön.

Regarding the knitting of the Rogue sweater, I explained everything before, there is nothing left to add. Just the picture was not taken yet. But now I washed the sweater. The washing improved the feel and fall of the yarn resp. the garment a lot, it became very soft.

Dies ist Stenhaven aus dem aktuellen Buch Japan von Marianne Isager. Ein zweifarbiges Musterbündchen in Double-Face-Technik wird mit einem relativ schlichten Aranmuster zu einer Raglan-Strickjacke kombiniert. Ich stricke es aus reiner Wolle in Naturweiß, die mir meine Mutter aus Schottland mitgebracht hat. Ich habe ein Kilo davon, es reicht also auf alle Fälle. Und so finde ich es schöner, als das Garn doppelt zu verstricken.

This is Stenhaven from the newest book Japan by Marianne Isager. A bicoloured cuff knitted in double knitting is combined with a rather plain Aran pattern, the result will be a raglan cardigan (at least I hope so…). I’m using pure Scottish wool in a natural white shade which my mother brought me from her vacancies in Scottland. I have one kilo, so it will be more than enough. And I like it more like this, rather than knitting with two strands of yarn.

Ich konnte es nicht lassen und musste noch ein Projekt anfangen, und dieses hat mich völlig in seinen Bann gezogen. Es ist die Jacke Stenhaven aus dem neuen Buch von Marianne Isager, Japan. Der hier gezeigte Anfang ist in Double Face Technik gestrickt, die ich bisher noch nicht ausprobiert habe. Es handelt sich also um ein Stück, dessen Rückseite die “Negativversion” der Vorderseite ist.

I couldn’t resist and started an new project which somehow put a spell on me – I’m completely fascinated. It’s the Stenhaven cardigan from the new book by Marianne Isager, Japan. The beginning which you can see on the pic above is knitted in the double knitting technique which I never tried before. This means, it’s front and back of the same piece, since the back shows the contrary colours of the front.

Ich bin auch sehr froh, dass ich nun endlich ein würdiges Projekt für die schöne naturfarbene Wolle gefunden habe, die mir meine Mutter aus Schottand mitgebracht hat (wir berichteten…), denn da hatte ich bisher keine passende Idee, die mich wirklich überzeugt hat.

I’m very glad that I found a project worthy for the Scottish wool yarn my mother brought from Scotland. Until now I had no convincing idea what to knit from it.

Die hellblaue Farbe im Bild ist übrigens in Natura nicht hellblau, sondern ein helles, rötliches Violett. Es besseres Bild folgt bald.

The bright blue colour is not the correct one, it’s a bright, reddish violet. A better picture will follow soon.

Kaum zu glauben: Rogue ist fertig. Ein Foto gibt es noch nicht, sondern erst nach dem Waschen, bei besseren Lichverhältnissen. Ich bin sehr zufrieden, das Teil passt, wackelt, sitzt und hat Luft. Ein paar Anmerkungen habe ich jedoch zu machen:

Wie günstig, dass ich ihn verlängert habe. Gestrickt habe ich L, bis zu den Ärmelabnahmen habe ich die Länge von XL genommen UND noch zwei Zopfumdrehungen mehr gestrickt. Mit diesen ganzen Maßnahmen kann ich nun sagen, dass er von der Länge her in Ordnung ist. Beim Stricken nach Vorlage wäre das Teil hoffnungslos zu klein geworden. Also ein Tipp an alle, die ihn noch arbeiten wollen: Wenn Ihr großgewachsen seid oder das Teil für einen Mann umarbeiten wollt, AUF JEDEN FALL verlängern! Sonst wirkt die Länge nämlich alles andere als günstig, und das ist sehr ärgerlich, da man dieses Modell nicht durch “unten was dranstricken” verlängern kann.

Meine zweite Anmerkung gilt dem Garn, Rowan Scottish Tweed Aran Weight. Die Farbe liebe ich, das Garn auch. Ich weiß, dass es nach dem Waschen weicher wird (momentan ist es noch etwas steif). Aber die Anzahl der Knoten in manchen Knäulen war ein Skandal. Ehrlich jetzt. Ca. drei bis vier hätte ich ohne Not aufgrund der geltenden Rechtslage zurückschicken können. Ich habe es nicht getan, da die nette Dame, bei der ich es kaufte, auch nichts dafür kann, und weil es Probleme mit der Partie gegeben hätte. Aber ich bin schon der Meinung, dass ein Garn, das – mit Verlaub – so schweineteuer ist, ruhig etwas weniger knotig sein darf.

Das entsprechende Foto nebst dem langweiligen technischen Kram folgt in ein paar Tagen.

Unbelievable, but true: Rogue is finished! I will take a picture later, after washing and when the light is better (I tried it, and it didn’t work). I’m very satisfied with the result, the sweater fits very well and looks good. But there are some remarks I want to make about knitting it.

I’m more than happy that I decided to knit this sweater a good amount longer than suggestet. I knitted size L, up to the armholes XL for the length, and I did two cable turns more. After doing so, I can tell that the length is o.k. If I had followed. the instructions as given, the sweater would have been much too short. For all who want to knit this: if you are tall (or if you want to modify the cables and knit it for a man): make it longer! Otherwise you will never be happy with this. Specially, because the pattern does not allow you to knit some rows more at the lower border.

The second remark is dedicated to the yarn I used. It’s Rowan Scottish Tweed Aran Weight. I love the colour, and I love the yarn. I know it will soften after washing it, and actually I’m happy with it. But there was an unbelievable amount of knots in some of the balls. There were so many that It would have been possible. to return at least three or four balls to the dealer, but I decided not to do so. First of all the nice lady who sold it to me is not responsible for this mess, and the dye lot has run out, and this causes other (and more severe) problems. But in my opinion a yarn that is that expensive may very well be not so knotty.

Dies ist nicht der schwarze Abt bei Tag, sondern der aktuelle Zwischenstand meines Rogue. Ich bin mittlerweile an der Kapuze angelangt, sodass ich hoffen kann, das Teil bald fertigzustellen. Bisher bin ich sehr zufrieden, und das Stricken macht auch viel Spaß.

This is a progress pic of my Rogue Sweater. Meanwhile I reached the hood zone. Therefore I hope to finish this sweater soon. As far I can tell now, I am very pleased with the result, and knitting it is real fun.

Um die Wartezeit auf das Garn für Studio Long zu überbrücken, habe ich Rogue angefangen. Inzwischen bin ich unter den Armen angelangt, der Seitenzopf ist fertig (und das Garn für Studio Long ist da!!!).

For keeping me busy during the time I have to wait for the yarn for Studio Long, I started knitting the Rogue sweater. Meanwhile I finished the main part of the body which ends just under the armholes. The cable at the side of the sweater is done – and the yarn for Studio Long arrived.

Ich liebe diesen Zopf. Und der Pullover ist toll – sehr durchdacht, perfekt geplant, schnell zu stricken, aber durch die Zöpfe interessant und gar nicht langweilig und ermüdend.

I just love this cable. The sweater is great – very thought-out, perfectly planned, quick to knit, but still interesting because of the cable sections, and not boring or irksome.

Die Anleitung ist sehr ausführlich und gut beschrieben – allerdings so ausführlich, dass man einen Roman lesen muss, um zu erfahren, wie der nächste Schritt ist. Dadurch ist sie jedoch idiotensicher – nichts wird vorausgesetzt, alles wird erklärt.

The instructions are very detailed and well written – they are so detailed that I feel like reading a novel before getting to the next step. But this makes it foolproof – nothing is assumed, everything is explained.

Aber nun werde ich den Pullover erst mal ruhen lassen, um Studio Long zu beenden.

But now I will put thisone aside for finishing Studio Long after all.

Angela, Du hattest übrigens recht: Ich habe verlängert. Im Mittelteil sind es zwei Umdrehungen mehr.
