Ja, das Fair-Isle-Fieber hält mich nach wie vor in seinem Bann. Aber ich muss ja auch irgendwann zum WiP-of-Doom-Mittwoch zurückkehren. Und wenn nicht jetzt, wann dann? Wie auch immer, ich habe also mehr oder weniger lustlos an der Stenhaven-Jacke weitergenadelt, es ist ja nun wirklich Endspurt. Ich glaube inzwischen sogar, Isagers geheimnisvolle Andeutungen zum Thema Halsausschnitt/obere Raglanpartie wenigstens ansatzweise verstanden zu haben. Na, man wird sehen.

Ein Foto spare ich mir übrigens, denn man sieht halt etwas mehr Raglanlinie, sonst nichts.

Echt jetzt, mir hängen zwei Dinge zum Halse heraus: Perlmuster und Honigwabe …

Aber nun gehe ich erst mal wieder Fair Isle stricken.

Yes, I’m still paralyzed by Fair Isle fever. But I have to return to my Wednesday WiP of Doom-routine as well. However, I went on knitting the Stenhaven cardi yesterday, although I felt more to go on with the Inka one. But I’ll finish thisone soon, the end is near, and I think I understood what Isager’s enigmatic explainations regarding the upper raglan section might mean – maybe. We’ll see …

Really, there are two kinds of pattern which are coming out of my ears: moss stitches and honeycomb …

… und damit auch wieder Zeit für das Wip of Doom. Es gibt keinen Grund, in Extase zu geraten, aber ein Stück weit ist Stenhaven von Isager wieder gewachsen.

… and this means it’s time for my current WiP of Doom again. No reason to get over-excited, but the Stenhaven cardi by Marianne Isager grew a bit yesterday.

Raglanabnahmen sind doch etwas Feines. Stenhaven war ja schon fast ein Projekt der Ewigkeit, aber durch die WiP-of-Doom-Aktion und die acht Maschen, die ich in jeder zweiten Reihe weniger stricken muss, geht es nun recht schnell voran.

I just love raglan decreases. Stenhaven seemed to be a project that would be with me forever, but due to the WiP-of-Doom campaign and the eight stitches I decrease every second row there is a visible progress.

Dies ist nun wieder mein mittwöchliches WiP of Doom, aber diesmal habe ich mehr zu zeigen als immer nur den langweiligen Ärmel, den ich Ewigkeiten befriemelt habe. Nun ist alles auf einer Nadel, und die Raglanabnahmen beginnen. Die bunten Kanten sind in Doppelstricktechnik gearbeitet.

This is my Wednesday’s WiP of Doom, but this time there is more to show than just this sleeve I clowned around with for a long time. Now everything was placed on one needle, and I started with the raglan decreases. The colour parts were knitted with double knitting technique.

Im Moment ist es wirklich ganz besonders schlimm … ich freue mich unglaublich auf diese Jacke, kann es gar nicht erwarten … und bin völlig bocklos, sie zu stricken. Wie gut, dass es den WiP-of-Doom-Wednesday gibt, an dem wenigstens etwas daran passiert, und wenn es nur ein kleines bisschen gibt. Ich hühnere immer noch am zweiten Ärmel herum, aber das Ende ist absehbar, und dann wird alles besser.

It’s really giving me a hard time at the moment. I really, really look forward to finish and wear this cardigan, and I absolutely don’t feel like knitting it. So I’m glad there is the WiP-of-Doom Wednesday because it grows at least a bit then. I’m still clowning around with the second sleeve, but the end comes nearer, and then everything will be much better.

Fast hätte ich es vergessen, es war ja wieder WiP-of-Doom-Tag. Beim Ärmel bin ich mit den Zunahmen fertig, nun muss ich noch etwas gerade hochstricken, dann wird die glückliche Stenhaven-Familie auf einer Nadel vereinigt, um gemeinsam den weiteren Lebensweg zu beschreit … äh, also damit ich die Raglanschrägen stricken kann.

I almost forgot that it was WiP-of-Doomsday. I finished the increases on the second sleeve. Now I have to knit some more centimetres, then the happy Stenhaven famliy will be put on one needle for doing the raglan shoulders.

Jaja, ich weiß, am Sonntag wären eigentlich Socken dran gewesen. Aber der Strang Stansborough war gerade getrocknet, und da hatte der Celtic Vorrang. (Allerdings ist der Mittwoch unumstößlich dem WiP of Doom gewidmet, keine Sorge). Two Hearts sind wieder ein ganzes Stück gewachsen, und wenn dieser Mustersatz beendet ist, kann ich mit den Ärmeln beginnen.

Yes, I know, on Sunday it would have been the socks’ turn again. But the handspun skein of Stansborough was dry, and so I preferred the celtic over the socks. (But the Wednesdays are inevitably dedicated to the WiP of Doom, don’t worry!). Two Hearts grew quite a bit, and after finishing this pattern repeat, I will start with the sleeves.

Wie ich versprochen habe, langweile ich Euch ab jetzt mit einem neuen WiP of Doom. Es ist die Jacke Stenhaven von Marianne Isager aus dem Buch Japan. Ich habe sie gestern brav wieder aufgenommen und verstehe nicht, wieso ich sie so lange liegenließ, denn das Stricken macht wieder richtig Spaß (ein Hoch auf diese Aktion!). Ich bin gestern sehr gut vorangekommen, und der zweite Ärmel ist ein ganzes Stück länger geworden.

As I promised I will bore you with a new WiP of Doom from now. It’s the Stenhaven Cardigan by Marianne Isager from her book Japan. I took it up yesterday again, after a long break, and I don’t understand why I put it aside for such a long time, since knitting it became really fun again (hooray for the WiP of Doom campaign!). I knitted quite a lot of rows yesterday, and the sleeve became a good amount longer.

Leider kommt das Muster nicht sehr gut heraus auf dieser Aufnahme, aber Ihr werdet mir einfach glauben müssen, dass die zweite handgesponnene Garnpartie Stansborough für den Pullover Two Hearts aus dem Buch A Fine Fleece inzwischen verstrickt ist.  Nun heißt es wieder spinnen, dann geht es weiter.

Stricken mit selbst gesponnenem Garn ist etwas ganz besonderes. Dies sind zwei Mustersätze des Pullovers “Two Hears” aus dem Buch A Fine Fleece. Es ist ein echter Celtic mit viel keltischem Geknote. Die Wolle ist Stansborough in ihrer natürlichen Farbe, die ich nach und nach spinne (momentan brauche ich wieder Nachschub). Entgegen der Anleitung im Buch stricke ich den Pullover in Runden. Leider ist das Muster praktisch unfotografierbar, zumindest bei den momentan herrschenden Lichtverhältnissen.

Knitting with handspun yarn is something special. These are the first two pattern repeats of the “Two Hearts” sweater from the book A Fine Fleece.  The wool is Stansborough in its natural grey shade which I’m currently spinning (the yarn I already spun is almuost used up, so I have to get back to the wheel). I don’t knit thisone flat as suggested in the book, but in rounds. Unfortunately it’s really hard to take a proper picture of the sweater, I will try when the weather cleared up a bit.
