Als Einbeiein (Ravelry-Link) und ich am WWKIPD 2009 begannen, unsere Pläne für den WWKIPD 2010 zu machen, kamen wir auf die Idee, das Jahr zu nutzen, um ein wenig Guerilla Knitting zu betreiben. Einbeiein ging mit gutem Beispiel voran (wir arbeiten noch an den Labels, einstweilen muss es ohne gehen) und verschönerte ein Geländer, während ich heute meinen ersten Beitrag leistete: einen Baumgeist.

When Einbeiein (Ravelry-Link) and I started on WWKIPD 2009 to make some plans for the WWKIPD 2010 we fell for the idea to do some Guerilla Knitting during the year. Einbeiein set a good example and embellished a handrail, and I set my first Guerilla Knitting project free this afternoon. It’s a tree spirit.

Ich habe meine Strickbibliothek durchforstet und bin auf einige Bücher gestoßen, die ich gerne loswerden möchte, da ich sie nicht so gerne mag. Sie sind sämtlich in gutem bis sehr gutem Zustand. Es handelt sich um folgende Werke zum allzeit aktuellen Thema Socken:

Ich möchte dafür nichts, so sie mit normaler Post verschickt werden (wer versicherten Versand wünscht, muss den allerdings bezahlen). Anstelle einer Vergütung würde ich mir wünschen, dass die EmpfängerInnen ebenfalls etwas weitergeben, was sie nicht so gern mögen oder nicht mehr brauchen, aber was jemand anderem Freude macht, ohne Vergütung an sie selbst (das gute alte karmische Pay-it-forward-Prinzip). Hiermit begleiche ich meine entsprechende Schuld bei Heidi.

Gestern ist die erste Plurk-Socke fast fertig geworden, nur die Spitze fehlt noch. Die Farbe mag ein wenig extrem erscheinen, aber für Socken liebe ich so etwas, zumindest manchmal.

Yesterday I almost finished the first Plurk-sock, I proceeded to the toe section. The colour might appear a bit extreme, but I love this sometimes, at least for socks.

2007 habe ich diese Liste durchgeackert und markiert, was ich gemacht habe, noch machen will oder auf gar keinen Fall jemals tun würde. Nun sind zwei Jahre vergangen, ich habe Erfahrungen gesammelt und sollte mal überprüfen, was ich in meinem strickjugendlichen Leichtsinn damals so verzapfte. Was sich geändert hat, wurde in einer Kontrastfarbe markiert, ebenso wie die Kommentare. Und ich kann sagen, dass sich doch einiges geändert hat.

2007 I worked myself through this list and market what I already did, still want to do or never ever will even come near to. Now two years passed, I made some experiences and felt the wish to check what has changed (when I did this first, I knitted for a bit more than a year). Dies ist die zweite Socke, die ich nach dem Muster der perfekten Wandersocke stricke. Diesmal aus Lang Jawoll, was etwas dünner ist als die Sportversion.

This is the second pair of socks I’m knitting, following the perfect hiking sock pattern. This time I use Lang Jawoll which is a bit thinner than the sport version.

Momentan hat es mir die Serienherstellung irgendwie angetan – also Dinge produzieren, die mit anderen thematisch irgendwie zusammenhängen. Siehe die Hommage a Kaffe Fassett. Da ich außerdem den Reiz der Handspindel entdeckt habe, spinne ich damit gerade eine kleine Garnserie. Wegen der Farben habe ich mich für den Namen Oriental Market entschieden. Dies ist Nummer 1.

At the moment I have a crush on producing things which belong to a serial, which belog to others thematically (just see the Hommage a Kaffe Fassett). Besides this, I discovered the attraction of hand spindling, and so I’m currently spinning “serial yarn”. Due to the colours I decided to name it Oriental Market, and this is no. 1.

Noch fällt es mir leichter, mit dem Rad wirklich ausgewogen zu spinnen und zu zwirnen. Um ehrlich zu sein, war es mein erster Zwirnversuch mit der Handspindel überhaupt. Aber das Garn gefällt mir und wird zu einem kleinen, orientalisch-bunten Projekt verwurstet.

It’s still easier for me to spin and ply a real balanced yarn with my wheels. To be honest, this is the first attempt to ply with a hand spindle at all. But I like the result, and I’ll use it for a small, colourful, oriental project.

… etwas Perfektem, könnte man dieses Projekt nennen. Es war mal wieder Sockensonntag, und ich war nicht untätig. Diese Socke mag unscheinbar aussehen, aber sie ist wohl durchdacht und das Ergebnis langer Überlegungen und Planungen. Denn sie soll ja perfekt werden.

… something perfect, I could call this project. It was socky sunday again, and I was busy. This sock may look plain and simple, but it’s quite elaborate and the result of quite a lot of thinking and planning. Because it shall be perfect when finished.

Dies ist also das Material für die Hommage an Kaffe Fassett, Teil III. Ich habe mich für Kauni entschieden, weil ich das Garn mag und es einigermaßen günstig ist. Vielleicht ergänze ich es noch durch etwas Jamieson, aber da bin ich mir nicht so ganz sicher. Diese Knäule werden in zwei Gruppen geteilt (gelb-rot / grün -blau) und mittels der Splicing-Technik miteinander vernknubbelt. Davor graut mir schon, denn es gehört einideutig in die Womit-habe-ich-das-verdient-Kategorie. Aber es ist mal wieder stärker als ich, und ich fühle das dringende Bedürfnis, anzufangen. Allerdings wird es ein langer, zäher Prozess werden.

This is the material for the Hommage to Kaffe Fassett, part III. I decided to use Kauni because I really like this yarn and it’s not too pricy. These balls will be divided in two groups (yellow-red / green-blue), and then brought together with the splicing technique. I’m really a bit afraid of this because it will take a very long time until I’ll be able to knit the very first stitch, but it’s stronger than me (again), and I feel the need to get started. It will take forever, I’m sure.
