Mein erster richtiger Versuch in der Nalbinding-Technik (natürlich mit einer Nadel aus meinem Lieblingsmaterial Knochen).

My first real attempt in Nalbinding, of course I used a needle made of my favourite material: bone.

Bevor es zu Unmutskundgebungen kommt, habe ich heute die lil’ entrelac bags gefilzt. Dies sind sie also, die Kleinen, die nun zum Trocknen ausliegen. Sie sehen schon sehr vielversprechend aus.

Before my dear readers start expressing their discontent, I felted the lil’ entrelac bags today. Here they are, after felting. Currently they’re drying and look rather promising.

Diese etwas feurige Variante ist Nr. 10, und das ist eine gute Zahl, finde ich. Etwas Garn ist zwar noch da, aber ich denke, Anfang der Woche werde ich dann mal filzen.

This rather fiery version is no. 10, and I think this is a good number. There is still some yarn left, but next week I’ll felt the bags.

Bald ist es aber geschafft mit dem Entrelac. Dies ist schon fast der Entspurt. Nur noch ein paar, dann wird gefilzt.

Soon this will be finished, this is one of the lastones. Just some more, than I’ll start felting.

Die Resteverwertung ist in vollem Gange. Diese Variante könnte man bösartig als “Modell Oberförster” bezeichnen, aber mir gefällt es sehr gut, so Ton-in-Ton.

I’m using up the leftovers now. This version could be called “forester” pretty well, but I like the matching shades very much.

Na, Ihr werdet es schon erraten haben: Dies ist Nr. 7, wieder in einer Farbkombi, die mir besonders gut gefällt. Nun sind alle Knäule Kureyon angebrochen, und ich werde ab jetzt die Reste verwerten.

As you might already have guessed, this is no. 7, knitted in a colour combination I really like. Now I knitted a bag from every ball of Kureyon I own, and therefore I’ll start using up the leftovers.

In einem Kommentar wurde die durchaus berechtigte Frage gestellt, wozu das gut sein soll (sie fand die Antwort übrigens selbst). Wer hier einigermaßen regelmäßig liest, wird wissen, dass ich nicht die begeistertste Kleinteil- und Sinnfrei-Strickerin bin. Aber ich ärgere mich seit Jahren darüber, dass Geschenkpapier vor allem in der Weihnachtsvariante so wahnsinnig teuer ist – dafür, dass man es von .dem eigentlichen Geschenk entfernt. Das ist schon irgendwie pervers. Also habe ich mir dieses Jahr eine Alternative überlegt, die auf der einen Seite dauerhaft ist und – für alles, was nicht in diese Säckchen passt – umweltfreundlich und preisgünstig.

A lady who wrote a comment asked what the sense of knitting small bags might be. She found the answer in a different post, but I’ll explain anyway. If you are a frequent reader of this blog, you’ll probably know that small and/or senseless items are not my favourite things to knit. But the prices of gift wrap paper, specially before Christmas, are fucking high – just for unwrapping something! This doesn’t make sense to me any more, and so I decided to try something different this year. I want something that lasts (for small items) and a wrapping for larger items that’s eco-friendly and not too expensive.

Ich werde also Kleinkram in diese Säcke füllen, die gerade für alle, die stricken, eine hervorragende Aufbewahrungsmöglichkeit für den ganzen Kleinkram ist, den man so ansammelt – Maschenmarkierer, Stopfnadelköcher, Maßbänder, Zopfnadeln … na, Ihr wisst schon. Einige dieser Säcke mache ich gezielt für mich, um eben dieses Zeug unterzubringen.

I’ll fill smaller stuff into these bags which are a cute present for all who knit anyway because you can use it for all this small stuff you collect over the years – stitch markers, tapestry needles, tape measures, cable needles … well’ you know. Some of these bags I just do for myself, for using it in the way mentioned above.

Für größere Geschenke wurde ich von Eliandhra inspiriert, die in ihrem Blog darüber berichtete, dass sie Dinge in Packpapier einwickelt, das sie manchmal bestempelt. Ich werde also besagte größere Dinge in Packpapier hüllen, das ich mittels selbstgeschnittener Stempel verzieren werde. Vielleicht beklebe ich es auch oder verziere es mit Origamifiguren – die Möglichkeiten sind endlos. Packpapier ist billig und umweltfreundlich, und die Stempel kann man wiederverwenden.

For larger items I was inspired by reading Eilandhra’s Blog. There she talked about wrapping presents into ordinary packing paper which she sometimes embellishes by stamping it. So I’ll wrap these larger items in packing paper which I’ll embellish with the help of selfmade stamps. Maybe I’ll do something else as well, like using colourful paper scraps or origami – there are no limits. Packing paper is cheap and eco-friendly, and the stamps can be used again.

Diese Säckchen sind sehr schnell gestrickt, man schafft leicht eines nebenbei, und es ist auch sehr einfach, fast mindless.

These bags are quickly knit, it’s possible to make one just on the go, and it’s fairly easy, almost mindless.

Wie der Titel sagt: Nr. 5 ist fertig. Und nun kann ich auch Angaben zur benötigten Menge machen. Ein Knäul reicht genau für zwei Säckchen inklusive Kordel. Gestrickt mit Nadelstärke 6, keine Reste.

As the caption tells, this is no. 5. Now I can tell how much yarn is needed: one ball exactly makes two bags, including the cord, but without any leftovers, knitted with 6mm-needles.

Und Nr. 4 folgt auf dem Fuße. Bisher ist dieser mein Favorit, was die Farben angeht, wobei ich sie alle schön finde.

And this is no. 4. This is my favourite so far, regarding the colours, but of course I like them all.
