Ja, es läuft nicht immer so, wie es sollte, so auch mit diesem Teil. Das sollte eigentlich etwas anderes werden, doch dafür ist es viel zu groß. Daher habe ich es umgewidmet, zu einem Behältnis für mittelgroße Projekte.

Well, things don’t always work out as they’re expected to do, like thisone. It was supposed to become something completely different, but it turned out to be much too big. Therefore I use it now for medium size projects.

Der Projektklops wurde in einem Stück gestrickt, in der Waschmaschine gefilzt und anschließend befüllt. Oben hat er eine Schlaufe, sodass man ihn auch aufhängen kann.

The Project Dumpling was knitted in one piece, felted in the washing machine an filled with a project. On top it has a loop for hanging it … well, somewhere.

Mutter Jinx lacht sich immer tot, wenn ich irgendwelche Behältnisse für irgendwas zusammenprökele (und ist überfordert, wenn ich ihr solche Behältnisse dann schenke …), aber ich kann einfach nicht anders. Bei mir muss alles irgendwie sein Häuschen haben.

Mother Jinx always dies laughing when I produce any box, basket or other container for the many things I own (and really feels overstrained when she gets one as a present …), but it’s stronger than me: everything needs a sort of housing.

So auch die Taschenuhr, die ich vor einiger Zeit erwarb. Ich habe die passende Kette dafür gefunden, außerdem die passenden Verschlüsse für die Kette (die keine hatte, aber es ist eine antike, sehr ungewöhnliche Kette aus England), nur ein Behältnis für die Uhr fehlte noch. Dem habe ich jetzt abgeholfen, und inspiriert hat mich der Filzkurs, zu dem ich mich angemeldet habe. Ich habe also meinen ersten Versuch im Nassfilzen seit langer Zeit hinter mir.

It’s the same for the pocket watch I purchased some time ago. I found a matching chain, and the fastenings for it (it came without, but it’s an antique and very unusual one from England). Only a place to store the watch still had to be found. And this is what I made today. I was inspired by the online wet felting class I applied for, and this is my very first attempt in wet felting for quite a long time.

Es hat richtig Spaß gemacht, und es hat auch gut geklappt; die innere blaue Schicht verband sich sogar einigermaßen mit der äußeren, mehrfarbigen. Ich habe einen großen Gummiball umfilzt und dann die Kugel aufgeschnitten und den Ball entfernt. Ob ich das Teil noch weiter verziere, weiß ich nicht; da kann ich mir Zeit lassen, lustig finde ich es jetzt schon.

It was really fun to felt this, and it worked out well: the inner blue layer connected well with the outer, multicoloured one. I felted it around a large gum ball, cut the felting and took the ball out. Whether I’ll do further embellishments I’m not sure yet, but I’m in no hurry anyway. I think it looks quite funny as it is right now.

Das Material ist Rohwolle in Blau (ich weiß nicht mehr, woher ich das habe), die äußere Schicht ist aus Schottischer Wolle von lollipop.yarns by filzflash, und es ist dasselbe Material, das ich für Pixie verwendet habe.

I don’t know where the material I used for the inner layer came from, it’s some milky blue wool; the outer one is felted with scottish wool top from lollipop.yarns by filzflash, and it’s the same material I used for Pixie.

Since there was some interest for the spindle quiver I designed for Turkish Spindles, I decided to write down the pattern. It can be found here for download.

Auch wenn es alles, was es gibt, irgendwie auch in gestrickt gibt, dies ist keine Vuvuzela, sondern ein handgesponnenes und gefilztes Gehäuse für eine türkische Spindel mittlerer Größe.

Everything that dwells on earth exists somehow in a knitted version as well, but this is not a vuvuzela, but a handspun and felted quiver for a medium size Turkish spindle.

Türkische Spindeln sind zerlegbar und einfach zu transportieren, wenn sie leer sind, aber wenn sich bereits Garn darauf befindet, wird es schwieriger. Kleine Exemplare kann man gut in Dosen verstauen, aber bei größeren ist das benötigte Behältnis einfach zu groß. Daher entschloss ich mich, ein praktisches und formschönes (?) Gehäuse zu entwerfen, um meine türkischen Spindeln besser transportieren zu können.

Turkish spindles can be deconstructed and are easy to take with you when they’re empty. But when there is already some yarn on them, it’s more difficult. Small spindles can be stored in boxes quite well, but when they’re too big the container is just too voluminous for being transported in a handbag. Therefore I decided to design a practical and well-shaped (?) quiver for taking my Turkish spindles with me.

Das Modell Pixie stellt den Prototypen dar. Die Wolle habe ich mit der Spindel gesponnen, der handgefärbte Kammzug (schottische Wolle) stammt von lollipop.yarns by filzflash. Zweifach verzwirnt, verstrickt und mit der Hand gefilzt. Das Modell Magic Mushroom ist in Planung.

The design Pixie is a prototype. I spun the roving with a spindle,plied it (2-ply), knitted and felted it by hand. The roving is handdyed (scottish wool) and comes from lollipop.yarn by filzflash.

Dies ist das Gehäuse im geschlossenen Zustand. Die Spindel ist gut geschützt, und der Karabinerhaken sorgt für einen sicheren Verschluss.

This is the quiver when it’s closed. The spindle is well protected, and the snap-hooks locks it firmly.

Dies ist der zweite Versuch, mir eine Badetasche zu stricken, nachdem ich letztes Jahr den ersten wegen zu großer Gruseligkeit aufgegeben habe. Diesmal verwende ich handgesponnenes Baumwollgarn (das Zeuch muss ja auch weg …), das ich mit dunklerem, naturfarbenen Leinen kombinieren werde. Es wird ein eigener Entwurf, und vielleicht klappt es ja dieses Mal tatsächlich …

This is my second attempt to knit a beach bag, after I gave up the first one last year – it looked just awful. I’m using handspun cotton this time, which I’ll combine with darker linen. It’ll be my own design, and maybe it will work this time sufficiently.

Dies ist nun mein allererster richtiger Versuch im Nalbinding, nach dem Anfilzen. Es macht Spaß, und natürlich wollte ich gleich das ganze Programm: Ab- und Zunahmen und Farbwechsel. Das mit dem Abnehmen muss ich nochmal üben, aber ansonsten bin ich – fürs erste Mal – recht zufrieden. Es ist eine Art Sack geworden, wobei ich mir die Form anders vorgestellt habe. Ich werde ihn wohl für Fasern o. ä. verwenden und zum Verschließen einen Lederriemen anbringen.

This is my very first real attempt to practice nalbinding, after I felted it lightly. It’s fun, and of course I wanted to have it all: increases, decreases, and colour changes. Well, I’ll have to practice the decreasing stuff a bit more, but I’m quite satisfied with the result. A kind of bag came out, but of course I visualized its shape slightly different. Never mind, I think I’ll use it for fibers and close it with some leather strap.

Dies sind die restlichen Entrelac-Beutelchen, fertig gefilzt, aber noch ungefüllt und teilweise ohne Band. Ich bin richtig verliebt, aber nach und nach werden sie mich verlassen.

This is the rest of the entrelac bags after felting, but still empty, and for some of them the cord is still missing. I’m really in love with them, but one after the other will leave me in the future.

Die Säckchen sind sehr schnell gestrickt, ich brauchte ca. 2 Stunden pro Beutel. Ein Knäul Noro Kureyon ergibt ca. 2 Säckchen.

The bags are really quickly knitted, it took me about two hours for one of them. One ball of Noro Kureyon is more than enough for two bags.

Die restlichen Entrelac-Säckchen, die noch hier sind, filze ich nach und nach in die endgültige Form, und dies sind die ersten drei. In ihnen bringe ich den Kleinkram unter, von dem man sonst nie weiß, wo man damit hin soll. Hier sind meine Strickgabeln und meine Nalbinding-Utensilien untergebracht.

I’m currently felting the rest of the little entrelac bags which are still here. Now they get their final shape, and these is the first group. I’ll store this weird little stuff in them which one never really knows where to put it. Theseones are for my lucets and the nalbinding needles.

Mein erstes Nalbinding-Projekt (vor dem Filz) ist fertig, und ich bin gar nicht unzufrieden, auch wenn’s ein bisschen schief geworden ist. Es soll ein gefilzter Beutel werden.

My first nalbinding project is almost done,  just the felting process has still to come. I’m rather satisfied with the result, although it’s a bit crooked. This is going to be a small felted bag.

Um die Struktur des Stiches zu lernen, habe ich mit zwei Farben gearbeitet.

For learning the structure of the stitch I decided to work with two colours.

Wolle gab es keine, und das völlig zu recht, denn es ist ja nicht so, dass ich nicht noch ein wenig im Hause hätte.

No yarn for Christmas, and that was good because there is still the one or other ball around here.

Dafür gab es diese wunderschöne Nadelspieltasche von Filzflash. Eigentlich wollte ich mir so eine selbst kaufen, aber Naima hat alles, wirklich alles getan, um mir die Vorrätige auszureden (“nee, die Farben – das bist nicht Du), während meine Mutter heimlich die zweite noch Vorrätige erwarb.

But I got this wonderful pouch for DPNs by Filzflash. Actually, I wanted to get one by myself, but Naima hindered me from buying the lastone in stock (“no, these are absolutely not your colours, there will be more soon”) while my mother secretly purchased the otherone which was available for me.
