Probieren wollte ich es schon länger, aber seit Naima ihren Laden hat, kann ich die Nadeln formlos bestellen: tunesisches Häkeln. Heute habe ich mich mal an dieser Technik versucht und einen Sampler aus fünf verschiedenen Mustern zusammengestellt (sorry für die verzogene Form, aber diese Muster sind nicht alle miteinander kompatibel ohne Zu- oder Abnahmen) .

I wanted to try this for quite a long time, but since Naima opened her shop, I can order the hooks without any further ado. It’s Tunisian crochet I’m talking about. Now I gave it a try and produced a sampler composed of five different stitches (sorry for the shape, but these stitches are not all compatible with each other without in- or decreases).

Wer den Komfort ergonomisch geformter Häkelnadeln gewohnt ist (also Leute wie ich zum Beispiel) wird sich umgewöhnen müssen, denn mit ihnen funktioniert es nicht; man hat nämlich bei der Hinreihe alle Maschen auf der Nadel.

If you’re used to the comfort of ergonomically shaped crochet hooks, forget about them (e. g. people like me), forget about them; they’re not suitable for this technique. Every second row all stitches have to rest on the needle.

Für die tunesische Variante des Häkelns sprechen für mich vor allem drei Dinge:

  • es macht sehr viel Spaß
  • es ist unglaublich einfach, wenn man bereits die Grundbegriffe des Häkelns beherrscht, und man lernt es sehr schnell.
  • es sieht nicht gehäkelt aus

There are three things I like about Tunisian crochet:

  • It’s really fun
  • It’s unbelievably easy when you already know the basics of crochet; and you’ll learn it within minutes
  • It doesn’t look like crochet

Ich habe mir also aus dem Internet einige Anleitungen zusammengesucht und folgende Muster ausprobiert:

  1. Grundmuster / Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS): Hat eine faszinierende Optik, ist einfach und schnell
  2. Stäbchen / Tunisian Double Stitch (TDS): Gefällt mir am wenigsten, hat am ehesten eine Häkeloptik und ist nervig zu machen.
  3. “Muster 2″: Von der Optik her sehr sexy, einfach und schnell
  4. Verschränktes Muster: Aufwändig, sehr fest, aber wirkungsvoll
  5. Strickmaschen-Muster: Gehäkelte Strickoptik

So I picked some instructions from the internet and gave them a try.

  1. Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS): looks sort of fascinating, is really easy and quickly done
  2. Tunisian Double Stitch (TDS): This I don’t care too much of. The movements are quite uncomfortable to execute, and it looks too much like crochet.
  3. “Muster 2″ (German only): looks really sexy to me, quickly and easily done
  4. “Twisted Stitches” (German only): quite elaborate, but looks very interesting
  5. “Tunisian Stockinette” (German only): for these who like a knitted look for crochet

Ich kann mir diese Technik vor allem für Taschen und Decken vorstellen. Es arbeitet schon wieder …

I can think of doing specially bags and afghans extremely well with this technique. Well, it rumors again …
