Dies ist gleich doppelt schwierig, da ich mit Decken bisher gescheitert bin. Und Häkeln ist eigentlich so gar nicht meine Baustelle. Das ist erstaunlich, denn in der Schule habe ich ganz brauchbare Ergebnisse beim Häkeln erzielt – ganz im Gegensatz zum Stricken, das war ein Desaster, das Oma mit endloser Geduld und viel Sachverstand richten musste. Heute stört mich am Häkeln, dass es eben gehäkelt aussieht, aber es gibt Ausnahmen.

This is rather difficult for me, because I did not finish one of the blankets I started to knit. And crochet is absolutely not my cup of tea. This is quite surprising, since I produced quite acceptable results at school. Unlike knitting, this was a mess, and my grandma had to fix it with a lot of experience and endless patience. Today I dislike about crochet that it just looks like what it is  – crochet.  But there are exceptions.

So begeistert mich die Decke Babette, die eine Verwendungsmöglichkeit für meine vielen bunten Merinostränge bietet. Es wird eine recht noble Decke; hochklassige Garne, Superwash zwar, aber keine Kunstfaser.

I really fell for the Babette blanket, for what I can use many of the pure merino skeins of fine yarn. It will be quite a classy blanket – fine yarns, superwash, but no acrylics at all.

Was ich zunächst feststellen konnte: Ich beherrsche zwar die Basistechnik (gut, da ist auch nicht viel, was man beherrschen kann), aber das Verstehen der Anleitung fällt mir längst nicht so leicht, wie es das beim Stricken tat, als ich vor vier Jahren meine ersten Werke anfertigte.

What I found out: I know how to crochet (the basics, well there is not much one has to know), but understanding the instructions was rather difficult for me. It just doesn’t come that easy to me than knitting did when I was a beginner four years ago.
