Eine solche habe ich erworben, als ich die Anleitung High Seas von Kieran Foley käuflich erwarb (Ravelry-Link). Nach dem schnellen Erfolg von Emily Dickinson hatte ich Lust auf ein weiteres Laceprojekt, und ich finde Foley als Designer einfach genial. Seine maritimen Muster haben es mir besonders angetan, und so entschied ich mich für dieses Modell als Nachfolgestrick.

This is what I got when I purchased the instructions for High Seas by Kieran Foley (Ravelry-Link). After I got this very quick success with Emily Dickinson I felt like knitting another lace project, and I think, Foley is just a great and very poised designer. I specially love his maritime designs, and so I decided to go for this one as a follow-up.

Während Dickinson jedoch sehr einfach und sogar für Anfänger geeignet ist (ein kleiner, sehr regelmäßiger Laceteil und ansonsten Garter, Garter, Garter), ist High Seas alles andere als das. Nachdem ich den ersten Mustersatz (von neun) gestrickt habe, kann ich folgendes sagen:

• ein asymmetrisches Muster
• keine Entspannungsreihen auf der Rückseite
• das Muster ist unintuitiv
• man muss aufpassen, dass man sich mit den Wiederholungen innerhalb der Horizontale nicht verheddert.
• Umschläge und Abnahmen haben längst nicht immer einen räumlichen Zusammenhang

While Dickinson is rather easy and with its small, regular lace part and the large garter sections suitable for beginners as well, High Seas is everything but that. After I mastered the first pattern repeat (of nine in total) I can tell:

• the pattern is unintuitive
• no relaxing purl rows on the back
• the pattern is asymmetric
• you really have to pay attention for not mixing up with the horizontal pattern repeats in a row.
  
• yarnovers and decreases are quite often not connected to each other directly

Spaß macht es trotzdem, und ich finde das Muster einfach toll. Daher quälen wir uns jetzt durch den zweiten Mustersatz …

But it’s fun to knit anyhow, and I really fell for this pattern. Therefore I’ll drag myself through the second pattern repeat now …
