Meine Toe-up-Socken im Gansey-Stil sind fertig, und meine Gefühle sind etwas gemischt. Die Anleitung ist toll, ich werde mit Sicherheit noch mehr Socken aus dem Buch und nach dieser Methode stricken, es ist eher das Material, das mich ein wenig unglücklich macht.

My toe-up socks are done, and I’m not really happy with them. The instructions were great, that’s not the problem. I’ll certainly knit more socks from this book and/or following the method displayed. It’s more the yarn that makes me a bit unhappy.

Mir gefallen die Schoppel-Zauberbälle wirklich; sie haben wunderschöne Farben, und sie mustern auch sehr ansprechend. Ich habe bereits ein Paar daraus gestrickt, mit dem Herr Jinx auch sehr zufrieden ist. Vielleicht habe ich einen Montagsball erwischt, aber das Garn ist schon sehr empfindlich. Das ist vielleicht der Grund, warum viele es nicht für Socken, sondern für Schals und Tücher verwenden. Das finde ich auch sehr schön, nur ist es mir persönlich zu viel Kunstfaser.

I really like the Zauberballs by Schoppel, their colours are great, and they stripe beautifully. I already knitted a pair with it, and Mr. Jinx likes them. Maybe I got a ball that’s not like the others, but the yarn seems to be rather delicate. Maybe that’s the reason why many knitters use it for scarves and shawls exclusively. This works great, but for me it’s too much nylon for this purpose.

Wie auch immer, ich habe die Methode verinnerlicht, und das ist ja auch was. Wie lange die Socken halten, werde ich ja sehen.

However, I learned this method by doing theseones, and that’s what really counts. How long these socks will last, I’ll see.
