Endlich sind sie da, meine neuen Bosworth-Spindeln, und ich denke, dieses Post bzw. diese Bilder beantworten die häufig gestellte Frage, die vielen Edel-Spindel-EignerInnen immer wieder gestellt wird: Nämlich welche man bevorzugt, ob Golding oder Bosworth. Für mich jedenfalls ist die Antwort klar: Ich habe eine Golding ausprobiert und eine Bosworth, und nachdem ich die Bosworth hatte, habe ich mich nie wieder nach etwas anderem umgesehen.

Nun komplettiere ich langsam meine Sammlung in punkto Gewicht. Dies sind eine Mini und eine Maxi, also eine sehr leichte und eine schwerere Spindel. Charakteristisch für Bosworth-Spindeln ist ja das einheitliche Design (eine sieht von der Form her aus wie die andere) und die Vielfalt an Hölzern, in denen diese Spindeln (teilweise mit erheblichen Wartezeiten) erhältlich sind.

Now I try to complete my collection regarding different weights. This is a mini and a maxi spindle, a very lightweight and a heavier one. The shape is characteristic for Bosworth spindles, there is only one available, but in a multitude of different woods (for some of them you have to wait quite a long time).

Die Minispindel ist aus dem erstaunlichsten Holz gefertigt, das ich je in der Hand hielt: Pink Ivory. Es fühlt sich eher an wie ein stark polierter Knochen und ist außerordentlich hart. Die Farbe ist natürlich (wie alle Bosworths), und sie ist ein echtes Juwel. Das Gewicht beträgt 27 Gramm.

The mini spindle is crafted from the most amazing wood I ever held in my hands: Pink Ivory. It doesn’t have a woody feel at all, but is rather like highly polished bone and really firm. The shade is all natural (like all Bosworth spindles), and it’s really a jewel in my collection. The weight is 27 grams.

Die große Spindel ist aus Vogelaugenahorn und wiegt 44 Gramm. Sie läuft – auch wegen des Gewichts – wie ein Uhrwerk.

The maxi spinle is crafted from bird’s eye maple, and it’s weight is 44 grams. Due to its weight it runs unbelievably smooth.
