Ich habe etwas gekauft, von dem ich immer meinte, ich würde es nie kaufen. Und zwar Strickgarn aus reinem Polyacryl. Und das mir, die ich immer auf reine Naturfasern schwöre und mit Ach und Krach bereit bin, einen Polytier-Anteil in meiner Sockenwolle zu akzeptieren, der Haltbarkeit wegen. Und nun das. Es gibt natürlich Pros und Contras, wie ich nach einem Anstricktest vermelden kann.

Contra:

• Das Zeug quietscht beim Stricken
• es fühlt sich nicht gut an
• Das Garn sieht schon von Weitem nach Plastik aus
• Ich möchte es nicht mal tragen, wenn ich tot bin

Pro

• es ist formstabil
• es gibt das Garn in leuchtenden Farben (und wenn ich leuchtend sage, meine ich auch wirklich leuchtend)

Die Bilanz steht also formal gegen das Polytier, aber … es ist für Guerilla-Knitting einfach am besten geeignet. Ehrlich. Sage sogar ich, wenn auch ungern. Allerdings mache ich eine Einschränkung: Wenn ich die Natur umstricke, werde ich kein Plastik dafür verwenden, denn dort liegt schon genug davon herum.

I really did it, and it’s unbelievable. I purchased some yarn made of 100% acryl. Although I always insist to use 100% natural materials for the garments I knit. The only concession I’m willing to make is sock yarn, for the sake of durabiltiy I accept an allotment of 25% acrylic. But that’t it. But now it happened. After knitting some rows I can tell there are some pros and cons.

Con:

• the yarn is making weird sounds while knitted
• I don’t like touching it
• it really looks like pure plastic
• I even don’t want to wear a garment knitted from thisone when I’m dead

Pro:

• the item knitted with it keeps its shape
• it comes in blazing colours (and I really mean: blazing)

There are obviously more cons than pros, but there is one reason why I bought it: It’s much better for guerilla knitting than natural fibres. But here I make one exception: when bringing my guerilla knitting into a natural surrounding, like parks etc., I won’t use thisone. There is enough plastics around, I think.
