Nachdem ich die Sache eine Nacht lang überschlafen habe, bin ich zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass ich Nr. 2 nochmal stricken muss. Das sehr schöne, aber rustikale Garn passte einfach nicht zum Rest. Nun war ein Materialkontrast zu dem dominierenden Woll-Angora-Garn durchaus gewünscht, aber nicht dieser. Da ich beim Stricken das Motto “lieber früh geribbelt als spät geärgert” pflege, habe ich Nr. 2 nochmal gestrickt (was zwangsläufig heißt, dass auch Nr. 3 nochmal gestrickt werden muss).

After sleeping over it for one night I came to the conclusion that no. 2 has to be redone. The really nice but very rustic yarn just doesn’t match the dominating wool-angora blend I mainly use. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to use contrasting materials, but the contrast just wasn’t right. Since I think early frogging is better than late annoyance, I reknitted no. 2 (and this means I have to reknit no. 3 as well …).

Diesmal habe ich mich für ein Mohair-Seidengarn entschieden. Es ist das erste Mal, dass ich mit solch einem Material stricke, und ich musste mich erstmal daran gewöhnen, dass man vor allem die kleinen Härchen verarbeitet, zusammen mit sehr viel Luft, und den sehr dünnen Trägerfaden eigentlich gar nicht spürt. Aber da ich der wirren Idee verfallen bin, in diesem Strickstück irgendwie die Elemente zu thematisieren, passt das ja hervorragend.

This time I decided to use a mohair-silk blend. It’s the first time I use a material like this, and I had to get used to the fact first that I mainly handle very thin fluffy stuff and air, and that the very thin thread can hardly be sensed. But since I decided to follow the weird idea to pick the elements out as a central theme in this item, it’s a good choice, I think.
