Hier kommt ein erstes Bild meiner fertigen Hanami-Stola, der vermutlich am schlechtesten gespannten Stola der Welt. Wenn ich sie neu gespannt habe, kommen auch ein paar aussagekräftigere Fotos. Ich bin ziemlich begeistert von dem Teil und kann sagen, dass ich mein Lace-Trauma überwunden habe.

This is the first picture of the Hanami stole I finished yesterday. It’s probably the worst blocked stole in the world. When I did the blocking process again, some better photos will follow. I’m quite enthused by it, and I can tell I overcame with my lace knitting trauma.

Als Iris bei unserem Ausflug nach Flensburg meinte, das Schönste wäre, ein Projekt neu zu beginnen, habe ich widersprochen, denn ich dachte, das Beenden ist auch schön (nur der Teil dazwischen ist manchmal nicht so …). Liebe Iris, Du hast recht, ich habe Unrecht, denn die letzten Reihen waren total ätzend. Das regelmäßige Lochmuster geht schnell, ist aber grottenlangweilig. Es sind dröge 32 Reihen, und ich dachte mir ab Reihe 12, dass man vielleicht etwas früher … aber ich habe durchgehalten. Dann kam die Rüsche (vermutlich die einzige, die ich in meinem Leben stricken werde), und für die allerletzten Reihen hat man fast doppelt so viele Maschen auf der Nadel wie davor. Aber das ist nun alles vergessen, denn ich habe es tatsächlich geschafft, mein erstes echtes Laceprojekt zu vollenden.

When Iris said (during our trip to Flensburg) that starting a project makes the best part of the whole process I disagreed and told her that finishing is as good as the beginning. Well, Iris, you are perfectly right and I was wrong. Finishing this was a pain in the neck; the lace pattern at the end is very easy, but it bored me to death. I was really tempted to finish earlier. But I did resist and finished all very boring 32 rows. Then the ruffle followed (it’s probably the only ruffle I’ll ever knit), and for the very last rows I had almost the double amount of stitches on my needles than I had before. But this is all forgotten because I really managed to finish the very first real lace project of my life.

Allerdings habe ich etwas zum Garn zu sagen. Es ist Wollmeise Lacegarn, und die Farbe ist wirklich toll, ein sattes Rotviolett. Aber das Garn … zunächst muss es in Superwash-Plastik-Lösung praktisch ertrunken sein (ich stricke meine modularen Projekte ebenfalls mit Superwash-Garnen, aber die sind nicht so … leblos). Und dann würde ich mir wünschen, dass es beim Waschen weniger nach Chemie gestunken hätte. Am Waschmittel liegt es definitiv nicht, denn ich verwende reine Olivenölseife. Und nein, ich bin nicht überempfindlich, sondern Raucherin.

But there is something I have to say about the yarn. It’s Wollmeise lace yarn, and the colour is phantastic, a full, vibrant reddish purple. But the yarn itself … first of all it must be drowned in superwash dissolution (I’m knitting my modular projects with superwash yarns as well, but theseones are less … lifeless). And then I wished the stole hadn’t smelled like a chemistry plant. No, this was not the detergent since I use pure, natural olive oil soap. And no, I’m not overly sensitive, I’m a smoker.
