Hach ja, da beschwert man sich über k2tog und Konsorten, und schon trifft es einen mit voller Wucht. Heute kam nämlich die Anleitung für den Swirl Shawl an, den es nur in gedruckter Form gibt, und ich musste das Muster, eine Kombination aus Lace- und modularem Stricken, natürlich gleich ausprobieren.

Oh yeah, I just complained about k2tog et al., and what happens? It hits me on the spot. Today the written instructions for the Swirl Shawl arrived, and of course I had to do some test knitting of this pattern, a mixture of lace and modular knitting.

Das Foto auf der Anleitung ist leider nicht sehr günstig, da das Teil dort aussieht wie ein Tischläufer. Das Garn heißt Melody von Jojoland, ein mehrfarbiges Lacegarn mit schönem Farbverlauf, das ideal für eher einfache, grafische Muster ist.

The photo on the cover of the instruction leaflet isn’t really favourable, because the shawl looks very much like a table runner. The yarn is Melody by Jojoland, a multicoloured lace yarn with a very nice colour gradient and ideal for more simple, graphic patterns.

Das Muster ist auf Englisch erhältlich und gut beschrieben, allerdings ereilte mich dort meine Nemesis nicht nur in Form von k2tog, sondern auch vielfach mit k3tog. Aber es geht, wie ich feststellen durfte.

The pattern is available in English exclusively and well written. But Nemesis caught me right away since there are tons of k2togs and een k3togs. But I can manage, as I already found out.

Was mich begeistert, ist die fast schon zoomorphe Form und die Plastizität des ersten Moduls, das in gespannter Form übrigens ein Sechseck ergibt (und nicht etwa eine stilisierte Blume). Ebenso entzückt mich die absolut provencalische Farbigkeit (Lavender Fields forever!).

What really enthuses me is the almost zoomorph shape and the three-dimensionality of the module which is not a flower (as it might appear) but a Hexagon (at least after blocking). I also love the colours a la Provence (Lavender Fields forever!)
