… sind Schwestern, oder mindestens Cousinen. Heute ist ja für alle Leute eine Art Spaßtag, doch ich möchte ihn als Tag des Garnes bezeichnen.

… are sisters, or, at least, cousins. Today is a kind of fun day, but for me it’s the Day of the Yarn, as I’d like to call it.

Zunächst – ich bin gerade auf der Suche nach der idealen Wandersocke – habe ich einige Knäule Lang Jawoll erstanden, um entsprechende Fußbekleidung zu stricken. In wandertauglichen Farben, versteht sich. Solide, ein wenig frugal, aber zweckdienlich, kein Chi-Chi.

First of all I bought some balls of sock yarn. I’m trying to knit the perfect hiking sock at the moment, and so I chose Lang Jawoll. This may look a bit frugal, but they’re perfect for this purpose, without any sophisticated details.

Auch dabei: Vier Knäule Sockenwolle von Kaffe Fassett. Ich liebe die Farben.

I also chose four balls of Kaffe Fassett sock yarn. I love the colours.

Und nun müssen wir uns leider von allen LeserInnen verabschieden, die zur Zeit eine Wolldiät machen, einem Wollkaufverbot unterliegen o. ä. Wir hoffen, dass Ihnen das bisher Gebotene gefallen hat und würden uns freuen, Sie bald wieder bei uns begrüßen zu dürfen.

Noch wer da? Nun, Ihr werdet Euch sicher fragen, was das Geschwätz  von Opulenz und Dekadenz soll, denn bisher war’s ja eher Hausmannskost. Aber nun geht es los.

Is there still anybody out there? Well, you’ll probably want to know what this chit-chat about opulence and decadence means because the yarns shown are quite bland. But now the fun begins.

Zunächst konnte ich zwei Knäulen Noro Silkgarden Sockengarn nicht widerstehen. Es ging einfach nicht.

Dann kam heute ein Päckchen an … mit Koigu Painter’s Palette Premium Merino. Für eine opulente Stola. Diese Farben! Unglaublich!

Today a parcel arrived and it contained Koigu Painter’s Palette Premium Merino. I’ll use this for a very opulent stole. These shades! Unbelievable!

Und jetzt laufen die Dinge eindeutig aus dem Ruder … ich musste heute zum Zoll, um etwas aus den Fängen Unkundiger zu befreien. Normalerweise vermeide ich jeglichen Kontakt mit der bräsigen deutschen Beamtenschaft, aber dies hier war jedes Opfer wert.

And now it’s getting a bit weird. I had to see the guys from the custom’s today, to free something from their very hands. Normally I strictly avoid any contact with these dull German civil servants (if possible), but this was definately worth it.
