Dies ist ein weiteres Artyarn, das ich gesponnen habe, und es steht für alles, was ich an manchen Sorten Artyarn nicht mag. Es war ein Experiment, und es sieht auf dem Foto nicht mal schlecht aus, aber es ist alles andere als alltagstauglich. Die Basis besteht aus dunkelblauem Corridale, umwunden mit leuchtend mittelblauer Tussahseide, in die Mohairlocken eingewunden wurden, als Farbakzente. Leider ist dem Mohair das Waschen gar nicht bekommen, es ist alles andere als fluffig, sondern eher filzig, obwohl ich das Garn nur kurz durch kaltes Wasser gezogen habe – ich war also sehr vorsichtig.

This is another skein of artyarn I spun some weeks ago, and it’s a symbol for everything I don’t like about certain types of artyarn. It was an experiment; I spun dark blue corridale and wound medium blue tussah silk around, embellished with single locks of mohair in contrasting colours. Unfortunately washing was not too good for the mohair locks, they are everything but fluffy but became sort of felty, although I just put the yarn into cold water for a very short time. I handled it with care, really.

Ich kann sagen, dass mir Artyarn, das nicht mal ein wenig kaltes Wasser verträgt, gestohlen bleiben kann. Ich möchte das Garn ja irgendwie verarbeiten, und wenn es für Freeform-Projekte oder für dramatische Akzente ist, und da kann ich nichts gebrauchen, was nicht mal vorsichtigstes Hantieren verträgt. Ich möchte nämlich kein museales Garn auf unabsehbare Zeit lagern.

I can tell that I don’t care about artyarn that doesn’t even survive a bit of cold water. I want to do something with the yarn I spin, at least for freeform projects or for dramatic accents. Yarn that doesn’t stand a very careful handling is of no use for me. I don’t want keep my yarns in drawers because it’s too sensitive for handling it in any way.
