Gansey - hole

Es war der erste meiner gestrickten Pullover, den ich wirklich mochte, er war immer noch einer meiner Lieblinge, aber nun ist es vorbei. Er wurde ein Opfer des Mottenfraßes. Es ist irreparabel, und so habe ich meinen lieben cornischen Gansey pietätvoll in der Mülltonne beerdigt. Es tat schon ein bisschen weh, aber ich blicke nach vorn. Ich werde wieder einen cornischen Gansey stricken. Die Wolle ist schon bestellt. Ich werde einiges anders machen als bei diesem Exemplar, denn ich habe daraus einiges gelernt.

  • Ich werde die Originalwolle verwenden, denn die, mit der ich den Pullover strickte, war einfach nicht so geeignet.
  • Ich werde die traditionell angegebene Nadelstärke verwenden, damit das Muster herauskommt, was es bei diesem Exemplar nicht tat (ich wusste, dass es da war, aber das war auch alles)
  • Ich werde auf den Unterarmzwickel verzichten, denn den braucht man nur bei sehr eng anliegenden Gebrauchsganseys. Und ich fische immer noch nicht.
  • Es wird alles schöner, toller, besser.

It was the first sweater I knitted that I really liked, it is still one of the best, but now it’s gone. It became a victim of the moths. It is beyond repair, and so I buried my Cornish Gansey quietly in the dustbin. Yes, it did hurt, and I’m a bit sad, but I won’t look back. I will knit anotherone (there is no live without a Cornish Gansey, really). I already ordered the yarn for it. And I learned a lot in the meantime, and so I will knit it a bit differently:

  • I will use the original yarn as it is used in England for this kind of sweaters, since the yarn I used was really not the best choice.
  • I will knit with the needle size suggested for Ganseys.
  • I won’t knit the gusset. This is absolutely not necessary for “show ganseys” like mine but only for the very tight fitting working ganseys, and I still am not a fisherwoman.
  • Everything will come out besser, nicer, greater than it was, I’m sure.
