Blue Faced Leicester - Worsted

Wer selbst spinnt, weiß, dass es mit einiger Übung sehr einfach ist, ein dünnes, gleichmäßiges Garn zu produzieren. Man könnte auch sagen, es ist keine Kunst. Jetzt hatte ich mir aber in den Kopf gesetzt, mal wieder ein dickes Garn zu spinnen. Das Ergebnis ist mit viel Wohlwollen als “einigermaßen gleichmäßig” zu bezeichnen, was für das Projekt, für das das Garn gedacht ist, in Ordnung ist. Das Rohmaterial, mein geliebtes Blue Faced Leicester, kommt sehr gut zur Geltung. Nicht in Ordnung ist, dass es mir nicht so ohne weiteres gelingt, das Garn in der Weise zu spinnen, die ich mir wünsche. Auch wenn ich dünne Garne für meine Arbeiten bevorzuge, sollte ich imstande sein, problemlos dickeres Garn zu spinnen, denn ich bin der Geist und das Rohmaterial bzw. das Spinnrad ist die Materie und nicht umgekehrt. Daran werde ich arbeiten.

Most spinners know that it’s quite easy to spin a thin, regular yarn. If you learned spinning properly, it should be no problem at all. But I wanted to spin a thicker yarn (worsted weight), and the result could be labeled as “somewhat regular”. This is o.k. for the project I want to use the yarn for, and the raw material, my beloved Blue Faced Leicester, comes out very nicely. But it’s not o.k. for me that I’m not able to spin the yarn I want. Normally I prefer thin yarns for my knittings, but I should be capable of spinning a thicker yarn as well without any problems, since I am the spirit, and the material resp. the wheel is all material and not the other way round. I’ll have to work on this.
