Studio Long

Gestern war es endlich geschafft, nach gefühlten 3 000 000 Maschen und ebenso gefühlten 5000 zu vernähenden Fäden: Studio Long von Hanne Falkenberg war endlich fertig. Es ist das langwierigste und aufgrund der Konstruktion auch das herausforderndste Projekt meiner noch recht jungen Stricklaufbahn gewesen, aber auch eines der lohnendsten: Selten war ich mit einem Ergebnis so glücklich. Nun, da ich fertig bin, kann ich folgendes zu diesem Stück sagen:

  • Es ist aufgrund seines Schnittes eher für großgewachsene Damen geeignet, alle anderen werden vermutlich mit der kürzeren Version Studio glücklicher werden.
  • Es ist eine irre Arbeit, und die Strickpackung ist nicht billig. Aber man bekommt kaum mehr Strick fürs Geld.
  • Die Konstruktion ist so ungewöhnlich, dass man sich fragt, ob irgendwann mal ein Part kommt, der “normal” gestrickt wird. Wenn man glücklich am Kragen angekommen ist, kann man die Frage getrost mit “nein” beantworten.
  • Die Konstruktion ist so ungewöhnlich, dass man während des Strickens mehrfach der Überzeugung ist, dass das Ding nie und nimmer passen kann. Tut es am Ende aber doch.
  • Die Passform ist exzellent.
  • Die Anleitung ist knapp gehalten, aber gut und verständlich geschrieben. Dass ich mehrfach kurzzeitig auf dem Schlauch stand, hängt eher mit der ungewohnten Strickweise und meiner mangelnden Erfahrung zusammen. Meine Maxime, einfach zu machen, was da steht, hilft enorm weiter. Ehrlich.
  • Die Wolle ist toll, und die Farben sind einfach wunderschön abgestimmt.

Yesterday I finally made it: I finished Studio Long by Hanne Falkenberg. It felt like knitting 3 000 000 stitches and 5000 loose ends to weave in, but finally everything was done. This is the most longsome and most challenging project (due to the construction) I’ve ever done, but it was definately worth the effort. I think I was never ever so happy with a result before. Now, as I’m done with it, I can tell:

  • Due to the cut it’s a project which is more suitable for taller ladies. The others will probably prefer the normal Studio version.
  • It’s a huge amount of work, and the kit is not cheap. But it’s worth both, the work and the price.
  • The construction is very unusual. I always waited for a part which is knit in a more ordinary way. Well, after finishing it, I’m still waiting for this…
  • The construction is very unusual. Many times I was convinced the pattern would not work and the sweater would never ever fit. But finally it does.
  • The fit is excellent.
  • The instructions appear to be rather short, but it’s very well and clearly written. Twice I thought I would not understand how to continue, but this is due to my lack of experience. After following my dictum, just to do what’s written, I got along well. It really helped.
  • The yarn is just phantastic and the colours are beautiful and exclusive.
