Vor einiger Zeit klagte ich im Blog mein Leid: Ich habe einige Stränge Sariseide im Haus und keine Ahnung, was ich damit anfangen kann. Es kamen damals viele Reaktionen, auch und gerade von Leuten, die ebenfalls keine Ahnung hatten, was man zum Teufel mit dem Kram anfangen soll. Damals versprach ich, dass ich mich wieder zum Thema melden würde, wenn ich eine Idee hätte, die mich überzeugt. Nun möchte ich mein Versprechen halten. Im Buch Folk Vests von Cheryl Oberle ist eine nepalesische Weste, für die eben dieses Material angegeben ist. Die Weste gefällt mir gut, ich kann mir auch vorstellen, das Material über einem T-Shirt o.ä. zu tragen. Es ist natürich Hippie-Look, aber das gefällt mir durchaus. Ich werde mich also im Frühjahr mal an dieser Weste versuchen. Hier ist ein Bild des Modells zu sehen (ganz nach unten scrollen!)

Some time ago I wailed that I had no idea what to do with the several skeins of recycled sari silk I once hopefully bought. I found out I was not alone, many fellow knitters (and fellow sari silk owners) reacted on this post, and they had no idea what the fuck to knit from this material as well. I promised then I would tell if I ever found a good idea what to knit from this stuff. Now it’s time to keep the promise. In the book Folk Vests by Cheryl Oberle there is a pattern for a Nepalese vest which asks for this material. I really like it, and I can wear it over a T-Shirt in springtime. Of course, it’s hippie style, but I like this. In a few months I will try my skills and my skeins on this vest. Here you can find a picture of the pattern (scroll down).
