Eigentlich wollte ich im Juli etwas Farbenfrohes stricken, so im Sommerwiesenstil, aber nix da: Dieser Monat bekommt die Socke, der er verdient. Thema: Wind und Regen.

Actually I wanted to knit something colourful as July sock of the month, but I didn’t. This month will get the sock it deserves. The topic is: Stormy Weather.

Es ist eine Wandersocke, die ich für meine Mutter gestrickt habe. Sie trägt normalerweise keine Wollsocken, da sie ihr zu warm sind, aber zum Wandern schwört sie darauf. Da sie in schweren Wanderstiefeln getragen werden, habe ich das Bündchen, die Ferse und die Spitze verstärkt.

This will be hiking socks for my mother. Normally she doesn’t like wearing woolen socks, since they are too warm for her. But for hiking she prefers them. Because they are made to be worn in heavy hiking boots, I enforced the ribbing, the heel and the toe sections.
