Nachdem ich mit dem Spinnen dünner Fäden mit der sehr anfängertauglichen schottischen Wolle recht erfolgreich war, machte ich mich auf zu neuen Ufern. Graues Gotlandschaf ist es diesmal. Ich habe ein Kilo von dem Material, das ich für den Irish Beach Sweater von Alice Starmore aus dem Buch Pacific Coast Highway verwenden möchte. Ich merke, dass es nicht so einfach ist, nicht mehr ganz so dünn zu spinnen (aber natürlich trotzdem gleichmäßig), vor allem nicht mit dem Gotlandschaf. Aber ich bin von der natürlichen Farbe begeistert, die so differenziert und lebendig ist, wie keine Färbung es hinbekommen kann. Ich finde es schade, dass naturbelassene Garne kaum erhältlich sind, und wenn, dann nur in superdick und/oder superunregelmäßig (für den originalen Sozipädchic wahrscheinlich).

After being successful with spinning thin yarn with the very beginner-friendly Scottish roving, I had to try something new: This time it’s Gotland sheep roving. I have one kilo of it, and I plan to use it for the Irish Beach sweater by Alice Starmore from the book Pacific Coast Highway. It’s not that easy for me NOT to spin real thin but still regular yarn, specially not with the Gotland roving, but I managed. And I’m fascinated by the natural colour of the material. It’s so sophisticaded and vivid as no dye can ever be. I’s a pity that it seems to be impossible to get a wider range of natural yarns in Germany. They are simply not available, or they are super-bulky or super-irregularily spun.

Und gerade der Irish Beach Sweater mit seinem Strukturmuster verlangt nach einem naturfarbenen Garn, wie ich finde.

In my humble opinion, the Irish Beach Sweater with its structured pattern asks for a yarn with natural colouring.
