Liebe LeserInnen, es geht weiter! Dies ist KEINE Qualle nach einem Chemieunfall, auch wenn man das glauben könnte. Es ist der Strang meiner ersten selbstgesponnenen, selbstgezwirnten Wolle, der gerade ein kleines Entspannungsbad nimmt, wie es in der Literatur so dringend empfohlen wird. Sobald die Schönheitspflege abgeschlossen ist, wird er zum Trocknen ausgehängt und die ungeduldige Autorin muss leider warten, bis der Trockenvorgang abgeschlossen ist.

Dear readers, it’s going on! This is NOT a jellyfish after a chemical accident, even if it looks like this. It’s the first skein of my first handspund and handplied yarn. It just takes a little bath for relaxation which is strongly recommended in spinning literature. As soon as beauty care is completed, I will hang it for drying, and the very impatient author has to wait until it will be dried completely.

Zum vorhergehenden Teil des Reports hat Tammina mir einen lieben Kommentar zum Thema Zwirnen mit dem Spinnrad hinterlassen. Liebe Tammina, herzlichen Dank, auch für den wertvollen Tipp mit dem langsamen Treten (das wusste ich nämlich nicht). Du hast natürlich recht. Ich habe ein gutes, funktionierendes Rad hier, und meine Vorübungen mit der Handspindel sind erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Ich frage mich selbst, warum ich mühsam das Garn für mein erstes Projekt mit selbstgesponnener Wolle auf diese steinzeitliche Weise (naja, bis auf die Lazy Kate) fertigstelle. Aber ich habe herausgefunden, dass ich die Handspindel mag und dass sie mir trotzdem wichtig ist, auch wenn ich nicht gerade Wolle für einen Pullover damit spinnen würde. Irgendwie habe ich die Langsamkeit entdeckt. Ich wollte einfach ein Projekt komplett mit der Hand fertigstellen. Heute werde ich mich jedoch wieder ans Spinnrad setzen und mit vollem Einsatz meinen nächsten Versuch starten.

Tammina left me a very nice comment to the last part of this little report. Dear Tammina, thank you very much, for the valuable hint about plying with a spinning wheel, too (I didn’t know this)! Of course you are right! I’m the owner of a spinning wheel, and my preliminary practices with the top-whorl spindle were rather successfull. I kept asking myself why I take the efford of doing each and every step in this rather stoneagy way (except the use of the lazy kate, of course). But I found out that I like the top-whorl spindle and that it’s important for me to use it, even if I will not think of spinning the yarn for a sweater with it. I somehow discovered the pleasure of slowliness. I just wanted to finish a spinning project completely in this rather antiquated way. But today I have the next appointment with my spinning wheel!
