Mit Socken habe ich meine erneute Strickkarriere begonnen, aber Socken waren schnell nicht so mein Ding. Ich habe mich dabei einfach gelangweilt. Dennoch sind selbstgestrickte Socken die einzigen, die ich gerne trage: Es ist ein Dilemma. Da ich eine riesige Kiste voll mit Sockenwolle habe, muss ich jetzt nur noch die Strickabsicht und die Wolle zusammenführen. Nun habe ich bei Ariadne ein Post zu einem neuen Socken-Knitalong gefunden. Demnach werden jeden Monat, einem Gedicht folgend, Socken in einer anderen Farbe gestrickt. Mitmachen möchte ich nicht, da die farbliche Bindung bereits beim Project Spectrum gegeben ist. Aber inspiriert hat mich die Idee schon: Ich werde jeden Monat eine Socke stricken, die für mich optisch einen Zusammenhang mit dem jeweiligen Monat hat. Dazu werde ich, was die Methode angeht, neue Wege gehen und sowohl die Elizabeth-Zimmermann-Version als auch Gibson-Roberts ausprobieren. Januar ist schon fast vorbei, aber die Socke liefere ich dann eben nach.

When I started knitting again last spring, I began my “career” with sock knitting. I found out soon I became bored easily by knitting them. Nevertheless the good handknitted socks are the only ones I like to wear really: it’s sort of a dilemma – even more since I own a huge plastic box full of all kinds of sock wool. I just have to bring together my purpose and the yarn.
Ariadne wrote in her blog about a new knitalong for socks. They knit every month a pair of socks in a different colour, following a nursery rhyme. I do not want to join thisone, since I have project spectrum where I stick to certain colours. But it inspired me to start my own, personal knitalong dedicated to socks. I will knit a pair of socks every month as well, but I will take my inspirations for the design completely out of my mind and start looking for colours and patterns which are connected for me to the mood of the month. And I will try out new methods: Elizabeth Zimmermann and Gibson-Roberts seem to be very promising and rewarding. Since January is almost over, the first sock will come a bit later.
